Continuing its focus on World War I on the 100-year anniversary of America’s entry into the conflict, the National Museum of American History highlights the role of women in this new exhibit. Thousands of middle- and upper-class women wore military-style uniforms to assist in civilian relief on the homefront and overseas, and also actually served in the military. Outfits will be presented that show how women could express their patriotism.
